Residential houses in the historical, ethnographic and architectural museum-reserve Staraya Sarepta.

Residential buildings in Staraya Sarepta are the same as in Western European settlements of the 18th-19th centuries. The colonist's residential building was a one-story stone building. Each house had (and has survived to this day) vaulted stone cellars. The houses of the wealthy colonists were two-story, large with attics, terraces, verandas and a large number of outbuildings. One of the houses belonged to Alexander Kasparovich Becker, a well-known scientist in Russia and abroad, a botanist and entomologist, one of the colonists who glorified his native Sarepta. Alexander Becker was born, lived, worked and died in Sarepta. For more than 50 years he worked for the Imperial Botanical Garden. For more than thirty years, Becker was the organist in the Sarepta church.
