Commonwealth leaders planning to defy UK on slavery reparations

Heads of government from the Commonwealth are reportedly planning on defying the UK by agreeing a plan to examine slavery reparations at a summit in Samoa. The text calls for the discussion of “reparatory justice“ relating to the transatlantic slave trade, and the roles countries have played in it. Heads of state are expected to take an “active role“ in the conversations. Sky's political editor Beth Rigby says the prime minister Sir Keir Starmer wanted to keep this off the agenda and focus instead on looking forward, with topics such as economic growth. #commonwealth #uk #skynews SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube channel for more videos: Follow us on Twitter: Like us on Facebook: Follow us on Instagram: Follow us on TikTok: @skynews For more content go to and download our apps: Apple Android Sky News Daily podcast is available for free here: For analysis of world events, tap here for The World With Richard Engel and Yalda Hakim: Sky News videos are now available in Spanish here/Los video de Sky News están disponibles en español aquí: To enquire about licensing Sky News content, you can find more information here:
