Israel? Palestine? Trump’s Mideast peace plan explained | DW News

US President Trump has unveiled his long-awaited peace plan for the Middle East, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Under the proposal Palestinians would gain statehood but give up large stretches of land. Donald Trump calls his it “vision for peace.“ It grants vast tracts of disputed land, including the Jordan Valley, to Israel. And controversial Israeli settlements would be retained within Palestinian territory. The Palestinians would receive parcels of land in the south. A tunnel would connect the West Bank with Gaza. But, critically, Jerusalem would be the undivided capital of Israel. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has denounced the plan. Is the two-state dream still alive?
