In Calgary, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announces the province’s three step plan to remove COVID-19 restrictions. He is joined by Jason Copping, Alberta's minister of health. Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health, takes part in the briefing from Edmonton. The first step comes into effect on February 8, and will include ending the province’s vaccine passport system and lifting capacity limits for venues. Starting February 14, masks will no longer be mandatory for all students and for children under 12 in any setting. The second step of the plan begins on March 1, and will include ending work from home requirements and the provincial mask mandate.
