Kawasaki W650 Winterization 1 - Fuel Tank

This movie describes the first step of the Winterization process that I went through - properly prepping the fuel tank for the winter. I followed the basic steps found in my Kawasaki owners manual. Keep in mind that this method is for steel tanks of carbureted motorcycles. In newer bikes the tank is made from plastic, so there’s no need to pour oil into it for the winter. Just fill it with non ethanol gas to the brim with a little high quality fuel stabilizer and that is enough. I show how to drain the tank fully, take out the petcock and clean it and pour motor oil in the tank to preserve it from rust. This is a good method for longer term storage. Make sure to drain the carbs too while you’re at it. Enjoy. Materials used: Car/bike Motor oil (cheapest). Potential savings DIY: $250 - $500
