Caleb Groh - Ocelot

When album production started in Fall of 2013, Caleb and his musicians engineer (Chad Wahlbrink) had a vision of what they wanted to hear on Caleb’s 2nd studio album, but having never heard the sounds and having no real reference point, experimenting transformed the album again and again, up until recording finished in 2015. Acoustic guitars provided reference for drums, then were mostly deleted. Much of the drums were then replaced with organic (field recordings of the timbres of mushrooms, logs, etc.) and electronic samples. Harp, hammered dulcimer, and brass were added to counteract the knife-sharp electronic elements. Ocelot is an example of complete creative freedom, blended with pop sensibility.
