I've got to be honest.
When grunge first hit, I did not understand it and I did not like it.
I did not resonate with bands like Nirvana.
I wasn't a fan of the singing, the “guitar hero“ (lead guitar etc..) had vanished, melody had gone out the window and the songwriting seemed sub par to the 70's/80's which is what I grew up on.
That was until I heard Chris Cornell.
Chris always reminded me of an 80's metal singer disguised as a Seattle grunge singer (this seemed true for me for Lane Stayley to some degree as well).
