Russia uses DU in its 125mm BM46 Svinets-1 penetrators: The US uses DU in its 120mm M829A1/A2/A3/A4 series of penetrators. There has been speculation as to the long term heath effects of DU, but more research needs to be conducted. It is generally not advisable to breath in any DU or any other heavy metal.
