HAPPINESS by Alexander Medvedkine (Sound design by Chris Marker)

The film is a silent comedy made in Russia in 1934. It is a fable about the desperate pursuit of happiness by Khmyr, a moujik who faces his natural enemies: first in tsarist Russia - the koulaks, the police, the Pope, and the Tsar’s employees - and then in the communist soviet. This film that springs from the depths of Russian folk culture brought humor to the Revolution. Soundtrack by Chris Marker.
