MiG-25 – the king of interceptors

The MiG-25 is a Soviet supersonic fighter-interceptor, created at the Mikoyan and Gurevich Design Bureau in the 1960s. The aircraft was created as the main component of the unified air defense system of the USSR and was supposed to neutralize the threat of high-speed high-altitude penetration by supersonic strategic bombers and reconnaissance aircraft of the US Air Force, such as the A-12, SR-71 and XB-70. The MiG-25, capable of flying at altitudes of up to 25 km at speeds of up to 3000 km/h, has won many world records and is considered one of the fastest aircraft in the world. The MiG-25 family had many modifications: the basic MiG-25P interceptor and MiG-25R reconnaissance aircraft, as well as two-seat variants, bombers, carriers of special missiles, and so on. More than 1,190 aircraft were produced between 1969 and 1985, some of which were exported to several countries in the Middle East and Asia. At the moment, most of the fleet has been removed from service. Thank you for watching!
