Pink Floyd - live in Montreux, Switzerland - September 18, 1971 (Stereo Remaster)

Setlist: Echoes Careful With That Axe, Eugene Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun Cymbaline Atom Heart Mother A Saucerful Of Secrets *Mastering Notes:* Upon experimenting with this date, it seems that the two recordings are in the perfect spots to capture the quad image between them. Victor appears to have been sitting somewhere near one of the rear speakers, while the station’s open air mics are positioned closer to the stage. These are two recordings of the same show, synced up together. On their own, each recording is pretty good sounding, but when combined, they reinforce each other dramatically, as well as restoring the surround image. The OAM’s are mono, they capture a more direct sound of the band playing, while Victor’s recording is in stereo, and capture a lot more ambience and room sound. Each recording also captures some of the instruments better than the other. It’s truly unfortunate that there are no stereo copies of recorder 1 in general circulation, but this will suffice for now. When — or if — we get a genuine stereo recording from the OAM’s, you can expect a revision somewhere down the line. For the stereo mix, both recorders are centered, except for some key moments like the footstep section in Cymbaline and STC, where they are both hard panned to the left and right. The OAM’s by themselves don’t have great high-end, so when both recordings are combined, it reinforces the sound dramatically. It was a bit difficult to keep the volume level on recorder 1, as the gain seems to decrease/increase randomly. The quad effects are extremely pronounced in some places. These are most notable during Cymbaline, AHM and STC. I’d like to thank neonknight and jimfisheye over on Yeeshkul! for helping me with this project. I hope you all enjoy! -Blob
