This exceptional Alpine encounter brings to life one of the most unique scores in the chamber music repertoire: the Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Quartet by Ernest Chausson (1855-1899), a one-of-a-kind piece of intense romantism. Also on the program are Ravel’s enchanting String Quartet in F, composed at the age of 28, a demonstration of his mastery of traditional forms and a framework for exquisite tone color and creative harmonics; and a work by French composer Richard Dubugnon (b. 1968), described as “driven by a playful modern sensibility” by The New York Times.
