Robin Scott - The Bride of Fortune
Robin Scott filmed this video of Vivienne’s 1985 Spring/Summer collection featuring the ‘Mini Crini’, which combined the construction of the Victorian crinoline with the modern mini-skirt. The bell-like skirt offered a cheeky reworking of one of the 19th-century's most famous garments, and became one of Westwood's most iconic looks. Vivienne also wrote lyrics on this theme, married together with the musically familiar ‘Stripper’ by David Rose.
Vivienne and Robin arranged and produced a recording titled ‘The Bride Of Fortune’ with Robin on vocals.
Lyrics
Trumpet bump and crini grind
How I love to change my mind
Bump the sun, grind the moon
I am the Bride of Fortune
Childhood Mother, Venus I undressed
You can be my best man if I like you best
Swing the mini-crini, stockings can be black
Clogs kick the Devil, wake up Jack
Wake up Jack
Babies play at deep sky
The seed is in the moon
Deep skies in the heart
Nearer and beyond
Trumpet bump and crini grind
How I love to change my mind
Bump the sun, grind the moon
I am the Bride of Fortune
Now I am your sister, starring as your wife
Wings on my ankles, heaven in your life
Swing the mini-crini, stockings can be black
White as my legs are, wake up Jack
Wake up Jack
Meanwhile in the logshed
David Crockett wakes
I love the way he tips his hat
and the chances he takes
Trumpet bump and crini grind
How I love to change my mind
Bump the sun, grind the moon
I am the Bride of Fortune
Proper sport is fashion, Just one little rule
Wear the tudor hotpants, like we did in school
Swing the mini-crini, all around the World
Swing the mini-crini, ring the bell
Ring that bell
Gods are in my comets, faces in the wood
Cabin Boy and Soldier Blue help me to be good
For better or worse
Yes I do
