Crochet Stitch Tutorial: Yarn Over Slipstitch #crochet #shortscrochet #crochettutorial

The Yarn Over Slipstitch is not a stitch you often see when you are first learning to crochet - but, it is an incredibly simple and versatile stitch. It is often used when crocheting ribbing (such as for a hat or a sweater), or to create texture. The Yarn Over Slipstitch (sometimes known as the Half Double Slipstitch), is very similar to the Half Double Crochet stitch (US terms), but with less height. I love to combine the yarn over slipstitch with other stitches such as alternating a row of YO SLST with a row of single crochet or half double crochet in the third loop.. this creates quite an intricate looking, beautiful texture. Left handed? Watch the video here: How to: begin with a starting chain of any length. Starting in the third chain from your hook, yarn over and insert your hook. Pull up a loop, so you have three loops on your hook. Now pull the working loop through the other two loops on your hook. Yarn Over Slipstitch complete! Repeat this in each stitch of your chain. You may find it helpful to rotate your hook slightly to point it downwards whilst pulling through.
