Why Is This G-Wagen Wearing A Puffer Jacket?

This madness before you is the Mercedes ‘Project Mondo G’, a monstrously large G-Wagen with wheels and a roof inspired by posh puffer jackets. The astonishing off-roader-come-moon buggy is officially designated as an ‘art piece’, made its debut at London Fashion Week 2023, and is the result of a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and high-end outwear brand Moncler. Fast forward to today, and it now has a baby brother too, once again a tie-up with Moncler, and once again complete with quilted fabric roof. Plus! The latest Merc/Moncler G is also going to sire an ultra-exclusive run of 20 modern G-Classes, with bespoke paint and interior trimmings. But why?
