A contractor of Dior’s Italian division is suspected of employing illegal immigrants from China and the Philippines to work on luxury bags, Corriere della Sera reports. It is about two firms from the province of Milan, which sewed bags on a subcontract. They employed about two dozen Chinese and a few Filipinos. All of them lived directly at work in deplorable conditions: the newspaper notes that, for example, the toilets at the migrants were “at the minimum ethical level“. But the cost of producing the premium bags was only 53 euros (with a retail price of 2,600 euros). Source: Global News (EU, USA)
