Motorcycle Trials - Cheltenham (1920-1929)

Motorcycle Trials - Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. This is not actually a race though the cycles have number cards on them. Men riding motorcycles on unpaved rural roads. The bikes are not seen en masse but 1 or 2 at a time; riding past. Some w/ sidecars; including an unusual vehicle w/ a front like a car - it seems to be a car as it approaches; but then the side view shows that it is actually a motorcycle w/ sidecar. As they ride up & down hills; round curves; through huge puddles; etc. there are pairs of men stationed at various points along the route; observing & taking notes. Aside from the motorbikes themselves the other point of interest is the location - this could almost be filed under scenic. American cataloguer notes: 'This Gloucestershire countryside with its old stone walls and farm outbuildings is the idyllic bucolic setting.' Farming; agriculture. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
