Le corps s’en va et le cuer vous demeure - (Antoine Busnoys)

Written in the mid fifteenth century, “Le corps s'en va et le cuer vous demeure“ (“The body departs and the heart remains with you“) is one of Antoine Busnoys' most intricate and mesmerizing works from the Dijon Chansonnier. For this video, we had the great privilege of being allowed to film in the magnificent gothic courtyard of the Hotel Chambellan in Dijon, France, located only a few steps from the library where the manuscript itself is housed! Our sincere thanks goes out to Jacques Noel for his technical assistance and to Jean Francois Lieutet for making this gorgeous space available to us. The American medieval and renaissance ensemble Asteria (Sylvia Rhyne, soprano, and Eric Redlinger, lute and tenor) is known for their intimate and sumptuous performance style and the emotional immediacy of their interpretations of French medieval and renaissance music.
