The Clay Diaries / El cuaderno de barro (Spain, 2011) dir. Isaki Lacuesta

This documentary follows the life and work of the painter Miquel Barceló in Africa. The camera watches the painter talking with friends and collaborators, and discovering the natural materials whereby he will rework ancient African art through the lens of contemporary subjectivity. We watch the artist working along with choreographer Josef Nadj to make up the performance “Paso doble” in the little African village of Dogon country where Barceló uses to live, with their neighbours as spectators.
