Before It Was Extracted, Someone Tried To Steal It - Excavation of German WWII StuG IV #excavation

In 1999, the wreck of a StuG IV assault gun was recovered under unusual circumstances and brought to the museum in Skarżysko. It was extracted from a swamp near the village of Komierowo, about 50 km from Bydgoszcz, after locals reported the presence of a military vehicle. Once the necessary permits were obtained, a recovery operation was organized, which proved to be extremely challenging. The team had to cross 150 meters of swamp, navigate a steep slope, and deal with soft fields, all while working quickly, as someone had previously attempted to steal the wreck, further damaging the site. The extraction took place on August 20, 1999, and lasted 10 hours. Despite the difficult conditions, the operation went smoothly thanks to careful planning and the involvement of about 60 people. A local company provided free assistance with the recovery and transport of the vehicle, and the effort was supported by sappers, police, and fire brigades. To enable the transport, a 200-meter road had to be built across soft fields. Even then, the truck couldn't reach the wreck directly, so the vehicle was towed for several hundred meters. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 🔥Support us : 💛Buy me a COFFE if you want to support us : –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Copyright fair use notice All media used in this video is used for the purpose of education under the terms of fair use.
