The Joffrey Ballet’s debut of Nijinsky’s Le Sacre du Printemps, 1987

FULL PERFORMANCE Igor Stravinsky and Vaslav Nijinsky collaborated BY CHANCE if you will, in 1913 on the most shocking, ground breaking music and ballet the world had ever experienced and it may still be most striking work ever done. Nijinsky's choreography, performed only 9 times in 1913, was nearly lost forever until the great philanthropist and dancer Robert Joffrey,in the 1980's, with great effort and commitment, enlisted Millicent Hodson and Kenneth Archer, tasking them with finding this thing. it took 8 years (?) but finally it was pieced back together: Nijinsky's lost masterpiece. This video was the 1987 Joffrey in the debut for the world on Dance America, finally Nijinsky got his due. He waited 70 years for Robert Joffrey. Then they took their bows and left this world.
