King attends his fifth engagement in 48 hours

The Queen has revealed that the King is “getting better”, before sneaking in a telling caveat: “Well, he would be if he behaved himself.” Camilla, 76, has made no secret of her view that the King should slow down following his cancer diagnosis earlier this year. While Palace aides have stressed that the monarch will not commit to a full summer schedule of engagements while his treatment continues, he has nevertheless had a busy diary this week. The King made a special appearance at the Royal Opera House after a bill of performances to honour the Italian conductor Sir Antonio Pappano’s 22-year legacy in music. Charles, 75, who became patron of the Royal Opera House in 2009, looked happy as he attended his fifth engagement in 48 hours.
